For the second year in a row, we’re headed to GLINTCAP – The Great Lakes International Cider and Perry Competition as our Chief Cider Curator Matthew, will once again be serving on the judging panel, among 100 of the industry’s leading cider professionals to blind taste test and rate over 1500 anticipated entries in the most widely recognized competition to find the best craft cider.
The entries will be divided and judged by these classes:
Commercial Division — 20 Classes:
- Modern Cider – Dry
- Modern Cider – Sweet
- Heritage Cider – Dry
- Heritage Cider – Sweet
- Traditional Cider – Dry
- Traditional Cider – Sweet
- Natural Cider
- Rosé Cider
- Modern Perry
- Traditional Perry
- Fruit Cider
- Hopped Cider
- Spiced Cider
- Wood Aged Cider
- Wood Aged Specialty Cider
- Specialty Cider and Perry
- Unlimited Cider and Perry
- Ice Cider
- Fortified Cider
- Spirits
Noncommercial Division — 5 Classes:
- Modern Cider
- Heritage Cider
- Traditional Cider, Natural Cider, or Rosé Cider
- Perry (Modern Perry or Traditional Perry)
- Specialty Cider (all Specialty Styles plus Ice Cider)

From May 12th to 18th, Grand Rapids, which has been nicknamed “Beer City”, will turn the spotlight towards its growing category of locally fermented fruits with a number of cider focused celebrations, bar specials and food pairings during Cider Week GR.
