Cider Maker’s Description

Blackbird is our American-style berry-flavored cider, blended with the juices of black currants and elderberries. It's a little sweet and a bunch tart.

Appearance:

  • brilliant ruby red color, Crystal clear, bright

Carbonation:

  • minimal carbonation, almost still

Aromas:

  • earthy, black currant, berries are present but not dominant, there's a damp forest quality to it

Taste:

  • flavor explosion, black currant, blackberry

Mouthfeel:

  • full flavored not full bodied, slight acid bite

Finish:

  • lingering berry flavor, some lingering sweetness

Tasting Notes / General Impression

Matthew favors dry hard ciders with body and leans towards traditional English styles, and he’s also developed a serious appreciation for hopped ciders and creative flavor infused ciders. Though he prefers sweets in solid forms, he does enjoy semi-sweet to sweet ciders responsibly when the mood strikes. Learn more about our Chief Cider Curator here.
