Review: Ginger Yellow Belly by Sapsucker Farms

Sweetness: Semi-Dry

ABV: 5.50%

Cider Maker’s Description

Our standard cider infused with fresh ginger root grown right here on the farm. A refreshing apple flavor with a citrus finish.

Appearance:

  • crystal clear, bright, light yellow

Carbonation:

  • full coverage of small to medium bubbles on pour that lingered for a short while, swirl produces the same, audible fizziness

Aromas:

  • ginger, lightly stinging spiciness, floral

Taste:

  • ginger, tangy & tart, hints of citrus

Mouthfeel:

  • spiciness tickles the back of the throat, sharp acidity in mouth, full flavored but not full bodied

Finish:

  • light finish with lingering ginger

Tasting Notes / General Impression

good ginger cider, maybe a little delicate, I don't know if it's robust enough to use in cocktails

Matthew favors dry hard ciders with body and leans towards traditional English styles, and he’s also developed a serious appreciation for hopped ciders and creative flavor infused ciders. Though he prefers sweets in solid forms, he does enjoy semi-sweet to sweet ciders responsibly when the mood strikes. Learn more about our Chief Cider Curator here.
